Chapter 5 Recommended Operation
Before using the Registry system, you should understand the following points.
-
Data is transferred to and from the Registry using the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) utility.
-
The Registry operation includes an SFTP server, identified by a specific domain name (not by an IP address). You can log on to the server, and after authentication, will be provided access to your secure remote directories for uploading and downloading files. These directories are named:
-
toreg - files for processing by the Registry
-
fromreg - files from the Registry (acknowledgment, notifications, reports, and so on)
-
processed - files are moved to this directory from the toreg directory after they have been processed by the Registry system
-
reject - files that have errors in the header line are moved to this directory from the toreg directory
-
-
You control when and if you upload or download files.
With this mechanism, there is no requirement for any party’s systems to be configured for the Registry to push data on demand.
-
Access to the processed and reject directories is limited to read‑only access, as these directories are under the control of the Registry system itself.
-
Using your SFTP client software, you should be able to identify different types of files that are awaiting downloads. Files can be identified by the leading characters of the file name. File types include:
File Type Description LIS Resultant list of ICPs RES Resultant Discrepancy Report data NOT Notifications NTR Re-send of Notifications FAL Outbound File Audit Reply EDA Event Detail Audit Reply NT Switch NT Request AN Switch AN Request CS Switch CS Request NW Switch NW Request AW Switch AW Request RSN Resend Switch ACK Overnight Acknowledgments ALERT Participant Alerts In addition to this switch, breach reports that are available to traders and if requested, online, have the format file‑name‑Of‑User‑Request.rtf. If breach reports are requested via an SFTP interface, they have the participant‑Code‑CCMMDDHHMMSS.rtf format.
-
It is your responsibility to clear the download files on a regular basis.
Files awaiting download are automatically deleted after 30 days, irrespective of whether they have been downloaded.
